Chris Ileli Throws Weight Behind Kalonzo’s Statehouse Bid
Report by Theodore Muia
Businessman and Kitui Central parliamentary aspirant Chris Ileli has thrown his weight behind Wiper Patriotic Front leader Kalonzo Musyoka’s 2027 presidential bid.
Mr Ileli who has emerged as the front runner for the parliamentary seat says that Kalonzo possesses the right experience, temperament, and national appeal to steer Kenya forward.
Speaking on the sidelines of Wiper National Delegates Convention (NDC) held at Uhuru park last Friday, Ileli praised Kalonzo as a tested and trustworthy leader whose long service in government has equipped him with the maturity, experience and diplomatic skills needed to unite the nation.
“The former Vice President has the right experience, the patience and a calm demeanour that resonates with Kenyans across the country,” Ileli said.
“Among the opposition leaders, he stands out as the most acceptable and capable candidate to take over the presidency in 2027” he added.
Mr Ileli further appealed passionately to the Kamba community to stand solidly behind Kalonzo's presidential ambition in order to give him a solid base on which he can negotiate with other leaders across the country.
"As a community we stand at a critical juncture. The mood in the country is that Kalonzo is the best man to compete with the incumbent. All we need is to rally solidly behind him even as he goes out there to seek support from other Kenyans" the former Chief of Staff with a humanitarian work belt as part of his experience stated.
The United Opposition leaders led by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and former interior CSs Fred Matiang'i, Eugene Wamalwa, Martha Karua, Justin Muturi have given their word that should Kalonzo be picked to fly the opposition presidential flag, they will go out there and campaign for him in every corner of the country.
