Propaganda Falls: Chonjo Wines & Spirits Trader Cleared, Products Confirmed Genuine

CHONJO Wines & Spirits in Kabati. It's a legit business, findings reveal

INVESTIGATIONS

A prominent wines and spirits trader in Kabati, Kitui West has been found to be clean and legitimate despite wild and unverified claims on social media that sought to link his business to the sale of fake alcohol.

Mr. James Malombe, popularly known as Chonjo - who operates the popular CHONJO wines and spirits - has for years operated a thriving and legit alcohol outlet in Kabati.

Investigations conducted by a media team which included a visit to his business premises revealed that the businessman has build a reputation for selling genuine and legally sourced alcoholic beverages.

Our team also established that his suppliers are trusted and licenced companies that have also built a good reputation for top notch products over the years.

For over 10 years, Mr. Malombe's establishment has served customers within and outside Kabati without controversy.

Loyal patrons describe the business as reliable, transparent and professionally run.

A physical visit to the premises paints a clear picture. The business is properly licensed and operates in full compliance with all government regulations governing the sale and distribution of alcoholic drinks.

Authorities have also confirmed that the establishment meets all the required standards. Regular customers say they have never had reason to question the quality or authenticity of the products sold there.

We have been buying here for years. The drinks are genuine and the service is always professional,” said Patrick King'ee, a patron who frequents the CHONJO outlet.

Another customer echoed similar sentiments, noting that the businessman has always prioritized compliance with the law.

Chonjo runs a clean business. The allegations that sought to damage his brand surprised many of us because we know how careful he is with his operations,” Evans Makuthu, another customer said.

Within Kabati market and the wider Kitui West region, Mr. Malombe is not just known as a businessman. He is also recognized as a community leader.

He currently serves as the Chairman of Kabati Market, a role that local traders say reflects the trust and confidence he commands among the business community.

Colleagues describe him as hardworking, disciplined and deeply committed to supporting fellow traders.

Despite this long standing reputation, the businessman recently found himself being the subject of misleading and malicious reports circulating online.

Our findings have revealed that the malicious claims were driven by business rivalry and wild propaganda aimed at damaging the reputation of a successful enterprise built through hard work and sweat.

Community members have strongly condemned the spread of unverified information on social media, warning that such actions can unfairly harm legitimate businesses.

Before sharing information online, people must verify facts. CHONJO has never been on the wrong side of the law. His business is legit and we trust the products sold there," King'ee the customer further stated.

Residents and business leaders are now urging investigative agencies to pursue those responsible for the smear campaign.

It is our position that firm action against those behind the malicious campaign would serve as a deterrent to others who may seek to tarnish the reputation of honest entrepreneurs.

Meanwhile, Mr. Malombe’s wines and spirits business continues to operate normally. Shelves remain fully stocked with genuine products that bear all the requisite approvals from Kenya Bureau of Standards and other government agencies.

Ignore any other flying misleading information.
