Kitui Digital Reporter
Governor Julius Malombe’s administration has rolled out close to 3,000 development projects across Kitui’s 40 wards and 247 villages.
From Health and Water to Roads, Agriculture and Education, the projects paint the picture of an administration focused on grassroots transformation.
Today, we break down the achievements sector by sector, beginning with Water & Irrigation.
Major water interventions
The department of Water has taken Governor's Malombe's lion's share of the development budget, with 663 projects spread across the 40 Wards and 247 villages.
Key flagship interventions include the Kangu-kangu Water Supply Project, which serves over 100,000 residents through a 224-km pipeline network and 52 water kiosks.
Governor Malombe's administration has also constructed 26 sump wells across all sub-counties, significantly improving household access to water.
Access within a 2-kilometre radius has increased from 39.8% to 44.36%.
Further, the county has implemented 39 irrigation clusters, 398 sand dams, 18 farm ponds, and promoted solar-powered irrigation systems to support food production and support climate-smart agriculture.
