Since assuming office in August 2022, Governor Dr. Julius Malombe has implemented a total of 2,931 development projects across Kitui County.
These interventions span all 40 wards and 247 villages, touching every sector of the county economy and social life.
The projects reflect a deliberate focus on inclusive growth, service delivery, and transformation under the Kitui Promise development agenda.
Today, we break down the achievements sector by sector. Let's look at Agriculture & Livestock Development department.
Milestones in Agriculture & Livestock Development
This department has implemented 109 projects focused on boosting food security, productivity, and agribusiness transformation.
Key achievements include strengthening extension services through a network of over 155 technical officers, 280 agripreneurs, and village-based advisors who have trained 827,483 farmers.
The county has also revived agricultural platforms such as the Kitui Agricultural Show, which has grown into a major innovation and investment forum.
Additionally, livestock health has been improved through mass vaccination campaigns covering over 1.1 million animals to control endemic diseases, reduce outbreaks, improve productivity and protect pastoral livelihoods.
To support farmer empowerment, the county has operationalized 40 ward-based SACCOs with over 12000 members, established 23 farmer producer organizations for value addition, aggregation and market linkages and strengthened value chain development across all sub-counties.
The 2,931 projects implemented under the Malombe administration reflect a transformative development journey anchored on equity, inclusivity, and service delivery.
Every department has contributed to building a stronger, more resilient, and economically empowered Kitui County.
