Since assuming office in August 2022, Governor Dr. Julius Malombe has implemented a total of 2,931 development projects across Kitui County.

These interventions span all 40 wards and 247 villages, touching every sector of the county economy and social life.

The projects reflect a deliberate focus on inclusive growth, service delivery, and transformation under the Kitui Promise development agenda.

Today, we break down the achievements sector by sector. Let's look at Health & Sanitation department.

Major milestones in Health sector

The Health Department has implemented 388 projects aimed at improving access, quality, and specialization of healthcare services.

A major milestone is the strengthening of Community Health Promoters (CHPs), where 2,470 CHPs have been equipped and supported with kits, smartphones, and bicycles, resulting in more than 1.2 million household visits.

The establishment of the Phangisile Mtshali Cancer Centre has improved access to oncology services and specialized cancer care, serving over 7,600 patients.

Critical care services have also been strengthened through the establishment of ICU and HDU units at the County Referral Hospital alongside ongoing construction of the South Eastern Kenya Renal Centre, that will have 7 ICU beds, 5 HDU beds and 20 hemodialysis beds to strengthen specialized healthcare services.

The close to 3000 projects implemented under the Malombe administration reflect a transformative development journey anchored on equity, inclusivity and service delivery.

Every department has contributed to building a stronger, more resilient, and economically empowered Kitui County.
