Since assuming office in August 2022, the administration of H.E. Dr. Julius Malombe has implemented a total of 2,931 development projects across Kitui County.

These interventions span all 40 wards and 247 villages, touching every sector of the county economy and social life.

The projects reflect a deliberate focus on inclusive growth, service delivery, and transformation under the Kitui Promise development agenda. Let's look at the achievements in:

The DEPARTMENT OF TRADE, INDUSTRY, MSMEs AND COOPERATIVES

This department has implemented several  projects, focusing on industrialization and enterprise growth.

Key flagship projects include the Kitui County Aggregation and Industrial Park (K-CAIP), currently at 54% complete, and the construction of 12 modern ESP markets, which will support over 7,200 traders. The markets will provide safe, organized and modern trading spaces.

Already, Kakongo market in Mwingi West and Kamuwongo market in Mwingi North are complete and awaiting handover.

The cooperative sector has also grown significantly, with 460 registered cooperatives with over 120,000 members  and an asset base increase from KSh 8.45 billion in 2022 to KSh 14 billion in 2026.

The 2,931 projects implemented under the Malombe administration reflect a transformative development journey anchored on equity, inclusivity, and service delivery.

Each department has contributed to building a stronger, more resilient, and economically empowered Kitui County.
