Governor Malombe's Legacy in Youth & Sports Department

Governor Julius Malombe’s administration has rolled out close to 3,000 development projects across Kitui’s 40 wards and 247 villages.
From Health and Water to Roads, Agriculture and Education, the projects paint the picture of an administration focused on grassroots transformation.

The DEPARTMENT OF YOUTH, SPORTS, ICT, GENDER AND SOCIAL SERVICES
This department has implemented several projects focusing on empowerment and social protection.
To affirm governor Malombe's commitment to empowering the youth, this department developed the Kitui County Youth Empowerment and Development Policy - 2025 to mainstream youth issues across county ministerial programmes and strengthen investment in youth development, innovation, entrepreneurship, sports and employment opportunities.
To strengthen sports infrastructure and talent development, the County Government in collaboration with Sports Kenya has constructed the ultra modern 10,000-seater Ithookwe Stadium.
The department also organized the first edition of of the Governor's Cup Football Tournament which brought together 579 men's teams and 105 women's teams from all the 247 villages.
The county has also established a Gender-Based Violence Rescue Centre in Ikutha to support over 1000 survivors annually.
The 2,931 projects implemented under the Malombe administration reflect a transformative development journey anchored on equity, inclusivity, and service delivery. Every department has contributed to building a stronger, more resilient, and economically empowered Kitui County.
